A state in the Rocky Mountains in the western United States. Abbreviated as Wyo. or WY. Most of the state is 1,500-2,000m above sea level, with a semi-arid plateau in the center and the Great Plains in the east. Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park are located in the northwest. Sheep and cattle grazing is popular. In addition to barley and wheat, oats for feed, pasture grass, corn, and sugar beets are cultivated. The state is blessed with minerals such as oil, natural gas, uranium, coal, bentonite, and iron. There is no notable industry other than agricultural and forestry processing. White people arrived in the mid-18th century. It became a US territory with the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. In the mid-19th century, there were many clashes between whites and Indians. It joined the Union in 1890. In 1869, women were granted suffrage (in local assemblies) for the first time in the United States. Cheyenne is the state capital and largest city.
