Genroku Land Survey

Japanese: 元禄検地 - げんろくけんち

This was the land survey of the mid-Edo period, following the Kanbun and Enpo surveys. It usually refers to the land survey carried out by the Edo Shogunate under the administration of the fifth shogun, Tokugawa Tsunayoshi (1680-1709). The earliest example was the land survey of Echigo Takada (formerly Matsudaira Mitsunaga's territory) in 1683 (Tenwa 3), followed by land surveys of Kozuke Numata (formerly Sanada territory), Mutsu Kubota (formerly Hijikata territory), Shinano Takato (formerly Torii territory), Dewa Shogunate territory (formerly Yonezawa Domain depository), Kanto Shogunate territory, Sado Shogunate territory, Bitchu Matsuyama (formerly Mizunoya territory), Hida Takayama (formerly Kanamori territory), Bingo Fukuyama (formerly Mizuno territory), Yamato Matsuyama (formerly Oda territory), etc.

寛文･延宝検地につぐ江戸時代中期の検地。通例は5代将軍徳川綱吉の政権下(1680‐1709)で実施された江戸幕府の検地をさす。1683年(天和3)の越後高田(旧，松平光長領)に対する検地がその最も早い例であり，以下上野沼田(旧，真田領)，陸奥窪田(旧，土方領)，信濃高遠(旧鳥居領)，出羽幕領(旧，米沢藩預地)，関東幕領，佐渡幕領，備中松山(旧，水谷（みずのや）領)，飛驒高山(旧，金森領)，備後福山(旧，水野領)，大和松山(旧，織田領)などを対象とする検地が行われた。
