Kefallinía (island)
Located in western Greece at the entrance to the Gulf of Corinth, this island is the largest of the Ionian islands. It has an area of ​​about 780 km2 and a population of about 30,000. Its English name is Cephalonia. The island has a complex coastline and is mostly made up of rugged mountainous terrain (the highest point is 1,628m above sea level), but it produces high-quality wine, dried grapes, olive oil, and other products. It has been inhabited since ancient times, and 200 people from this island participated in the Battle of Plataea. During the Peloponnesian War, it sided with Athens. Since the Middle Ages, it has passed through the hands of Türkiye, Venice, France, and others.

ギリシア西部,コリントス湾の入口に位置するイオニア諸島中最大の島。面積約780km2,人口約3万。英語名はセファロニアCephalonia。複雑な海岸線をもつ島で,ほとんどがけわしい山地(最高は標高1628m)だが,上質のブドウ酒,乾ブドウ,オリーブ油などを産する。古代から人が住み,プラタイアイの戦にはこの島から200人が参戦している。ペロポネソス戦争に際してはアテナイ側についた。中世以降はトルコ,ベネチア,フランス等の手を転々とした。
