Moon Age - Moon Age

It is the time elapsed from the previous new moon (the time when the sun and moon's ecliptic longitudes coincide) to a given time, expressed in days. A new moon occurs when the lunar age is 0 days, while a first quarter occurs around 7.4 days, a full moon around 14.8 days, and a last quarter around 22.1 days. The lunar age is useful for finding out the approximate phases of the moon. The Scientific Almanac lists the age of the moon at noon central standard time each day to the nearest 0.1 day.

ある時刻に対して、その時刻の直前におこった朔(さく)（太陽と月の視黄経とが一致した時刻）からその時刻までの経過時間を日の単位で表したもの。朔は月齢が0日のときにおこるが、上弦は7.4日付近、満月は14.8日付近、下弦は22.1日付近でおこる。月齢はだいたいの月の満ち欠けを知るために便利である。『理科年表』には、毎日中央標準時の正午における月齢が0.1日の桁(けた)まで記載されている。
