A Rinzai sect monk and Gozan literature monk of the Muromachi period. A native of Omi (Shiga Prefecture). Son of Emi Izunokami. Also known as Gen'un and Ichika Osho. He first attended Daitokuji sect's Gian Soyo, then attended Genju sect's Shochu Shotan and inherited his teachings. Shochu was a man who participated in secret visits to forests in various places, but Gekkan also worked with the Soto sect's Kochi sect, and through his relationship with the sect he came to be protected by the Echizen Asakura clan. Along with Amagakure Tatsuzawa, he was greatly influenced by Masamune Ryuto in the arts and sciences, and revised and revised the annotations of Masamune's Kamamura Commentary, and compiled "Kamayo" and "Kamakon." His works include "Gekkan Osho Goroku," "Gen'un Bunshu," "Gen'un Commentary," and "Gen'un Shiko."

室町時代の臨済宗の僧,五山文学僧。近江(滋賀県)の人。江見伊豆守の子。幻雲,一華和尚とも称する。初め大徳寺派岐庵宗揚に参じ,次いで幻住派の正中祥端に参じ,その法を継ぐ。正中は諸方の林下の密参に参じた人であるが,月舟もまた曹洞宗宏智派と行動を共にし,同派との関係から越前朝倉氏の外護を受けるに至る。学芸は天隠竜沢と共に正宗竜統から受けること大であり,正宗の蒲室疏の注釈を訂補し,『蒲葉』『蒲根』を編んだ。著作に『月舟和尚語録』『幻雲文集』『幻雲疏稿』『幻雲詩稿』がある。
