Chicken manure

It is a fertilizer made from dried chicken droppings, and is an organic fertilizer, just like fish fertilizer and oil cake. There are two types of commercially available: dried chicken droppings that are simply dried over heat and packaged, and processed poultry droppings fertilizer, which is made by mixing sulfuric acid or sulfuric acid with concentrated alcohol fermentation wastewater from blackstrap molasses and drying over heat. Sulfuric acid prevents the nitrogen components from volatilizing and giving off a bad odor, and also suppresses rapid fermentation and decomposition in the soil. Dried chicken droppings are about 4% nitrogen, 4% phosphoric acid, and 2% potassium, while processed poultry droppings fertilizer is about 3% nitrogen, 3% phosphoric acid, and 1% potassium. It also contains calcium, magnesium, manganese, etc. Chicken droppings are suitable fertilizer for vegetables, fruit trees, and flowers, and are also suitable for sandy soils where nutrients are easily washed away. However, if a large amount of dried chicken droppings is applied at once, it will ferment and decompose rapidly, which can cause growth disorders such as planting damage to crops, so it must be handled with care, such as mixing it well with the soil and waiting at least one month before planting.

ニワトリの糞を乾燥させた肥料で、魚肥、油かすなどと同じように有機質肥料である。市販されているものには、単に火力乾燥し包装した乾燥鶏糞と、硫酸あるいは硫酸に廃糖蜜(みつ)のアルコール発酵濃縮廃液を混合して火力乾燥した加工家禽(かきん)糞肥料の2種類がある。硫酸は窒素成分の揮散と悪臭を防止し、また土壌中での急激な発酵分解を抑える働きもある。乾燥鶏糞の成分は窒素4％、リン酸4％、カリ2％程度であり、加工家禽糞肥料では窒素3％、リン酸3％、カリ1％程度である。そのほかカルシウム、マグネシウム、マンガンなどが含まれている。鶏糞は野菜、果樹、花卉(かき)などに適した肥料であり、また養分の流亡しやすい砂地にも適している。しかし乾燥鶏糞を一時に多量に施すと急激に発酵分解し、作物が植えいたみなどの生育障害をおこすことがあるので、土壌とよく混ぜ、作付けまでに1か月以上の期間をおくなど、取扱いに注意する必要がある。
