Mount Okudainichi

...It is one of the peaks of the Tateyama mountain range, and is the main peak of the Dainichi Ridge that stretches from Tsurugi Gozen (2,777m) in the northern part of the range to the west through the saddle of Murodo-no-tsukoshi. The Dainichi Ridge is made up of the mountains Oku-Dainichi-dake (2,606m), Naka-Dainichi-dake, Dainichi-dake, Saotome-dake (2,025m), and Mae-Dainichi-dake (1,779m) from the east, and all of the mountains are made of ancient granite rocks from the end of the Paleozoic to the beginning of the Mesozoic era, and there is a stepped curl on the north side of Oku-Dainichi-dake. This ridge has been a meditation route for Shugendo monks since the Heian period, and there are monk's caves between Oku-Dainichi-dake and Naka-Dainichi-dake, and there are abundant alpine plants and a good view of Tsurugi-dake. ...

…立山連峰の一つで，連峰北部の劔御前(2777m)から室堂乗越（むろどうのつこし）の鞍部を経て西へ伸びる大日尾根の主峰。大日尾根は，東から奥大日岳(2606m)，中大日岳，大日岳，早乙女岳(2025m)，前大日岳(1779m)の山々からなり，山体はいずれも古生代末から中生代初めの古期花コウ岩類で，奥大日岳北側には階段状のカールがある。この尾根は平安時代からの修験道行者の禅定（ぜんじよう）ルートで，奥大日岳と中大日岳との間などに行者岩屋があり，高山植物が豊富で，劔岳の展望もよい。…
