Mount Okudainichi

...It is one of the peaks of the Tateyama mountain range, and is the main peak of the Dainichi Ridge that stretches from Tsurugi Gozen (2,777m) in the northern part of the range to the west through the saddle of Murodo-no-tsukoshi. The Dainichi Ridge is made up of the mountains Oku-Dainichi-dake (2,606m), Naka-Dainichi-dake, Dainichi-dake, Saotome-dake (2,025m), and Mae-Dainichi-dake (1,779m) from the east, and all of the mountains are made of ancient granite rocks from the end of the Paleozoic to the beginning of the Mesozoic era, and there is a stepped curl on the north side of Oku-Dainichi-dake. This ridge has been a meditation route for Shugendo monks since the Heian period, and there are monk's caves between Oku-Dainichi-dake and Naka-Dainichi-dake, and there are abundant alpine plants and a good view of Tsurugi-dake. ...
