A zoology book from the mid-Edo period. One volume. Written by Kajitoriya Jiemon. Completed in 1758 ( the 8th year of the Horeki era), published in 1710. Discusses whales , their names and the uses of each part of their body, based on both ancient hearsay and on actual observation. Illustrations by artists are used where appropriate, and are accompanied by explanations. There is a preface by Toda Kyokuzan and others. 江戸中期の動物学書。一巻。楫取屋治右衛門撰。宝暦八年(一七五八)成立、同一〇年刊。鯨(くじら)に関し、その名義、体の各部分の用途などを、古来の伝聞と実地の観察の両面から論じたもの。画工による挿絵を適宜用い、それに説明を付した。戸田旭山などによる序がある。
