Japanese: 黒木[町] - くろぎ

An old town in Yame County in the southern part of Fukuoka Prefecture. Most of the area is lava plateau, with a small basin upstream the Yabe River. The central settlement developed as a castle town in the Middle Ages and a market town in the early modern period. Rice, tea, and mandarin oranges are produced, and lumber is produced here. The town is home to Kurogi Fuji (a natural monument) and Reiganji Temple, said to be the birthplace of Yame tea. In February 2010, it was incorporated into Yame City along with Tachibana Town, Yabe Village, and Hoshino Village in Yame County. ^{135.49 km2} . Population 13,615 (2005).

福岡県南部，八女(やめ)郡の旧町。大半は溶岩台地で，矢部川上流に小盆地がある。中心集落は中世城下町，近世市場町として発達。米，茶，ミカンの生産，製材業が営まれる。黒木のフジ（天然記念物），八女茶の発祥地と伝えられる霊巌寺がある。2010年２月八女郡立花町，矢部村，星野村と八女市へ編入。135.49km²。１万3615人（2005）。
