It is translated as group dynamics or social dynamics. It is an empirical study of the interdependent relationships between groups and individuals, and seeks to discover general laws. Surveys, experiments, and clinical research on groups began in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s, and was systematized by social psychologists led by Kurt Lewin (1890-1947). Lewin considered groups to be fields of psychological forces, and proposed "field theory," which attempts to understand individual phenomena in relation to the structure of the group.
