Italian painter. He studied painting under the Venetian painter Vivarini, but later moved to the Marche region via Padua (c. 1468), where he produced many altarpieces, mainly in Ascoli and Bicenno. His golden screen treatment and fantastical, rigid depiction of figures are inherited from the late Gothic style, but he created his own style by combining these elements with the strict contour depiction of the Paduan school and others of the time. His works include "The Annunciation" (86, National Gallery, London).

イタリアの画家。ベネチア派の画家ビバリーニについて絵を学んだが，のちパドバを経てマルケ地方に移り住み (1468頃) ，アスコリ，ビチェーノを中心に多くの祭壇画制作に従事した。黄金に輝く画面の処理や幻想的で硬直な人物表現は後期ゴシックの様式を受継ぐものであるが，これらの要素と当時のパドバ派その他の厳密な輪郭描写とを結合することによって独自の様式を築き上げた。作品は『聖告』 (86，ロンドン，ナショナル・ギャラリー) など。
