1885‐1933 Turkish poet. He was the founder of the magazine Fecri Ati, Dawn of the Future, and formed a group that advocated Western literary thought, especially French Symbolism. After the group disbanded, he did not join any organization, but continued to write poetry. He was also a dreamer, and lived a life of deprivation, both in terms of his family and career. His poetry aimed to realize "pure poetry," and is backed by delicate emotion rather than passion. In addition to collections of poems such as "Moments by the Lake" (1921) and "Drinking Glass" (1926), he also published a collection of essays.
