...Through these debates, the (1) theoretical school, (2) technological school, and (3) normative school, which each formed the mainstream of business economics at the time, were issues that had always been raised about the nature of business enterprises, even during the industrial rationalization period of the 1920s, the Nazi period of the 1930s and 1940s, the period known as the "economic miracle" of West Germany after World War II, and the period of the oil shock, pollution, and ecology movement of the 1970s. (1) The theoretical school can be traced back to MR Weyerman, H. Schonitz, W. Rieger, E. Gutenberg, and H. Albach, and their common claim was that business economics focused on elucidating the essence of capitalist enterprises and their causal laws, and emphasized that it was a theoretical science while maintaining a certain distance from real enterprises. (2) The technical school can be traced back to early researchers skilled in bookkeeping and accounting, as well as to E. Schmalenbach, F. Leitner, K. Mellerowitz, E. Heinen, and others. However, this school emphasized the practical and applied aspects, as Schmalenbach pointed out, that business economics is about showing managers prescriptions for the health and survival of their companies.

…　こうした論争を通じて，(1)理論学派，(2)技術論学派，(3)規範論学派がそれぞれその時々の経営経済学の主流を形成してきた動きこそ，1920年代の産業合理化期，30～40年代のナチス期，第2次大戦後の西ドイツの〈経済の奇跡〉といわれる時期，70年代のオイル･ショック，公害，エコロジー運動の時期にあっても，企業の在り方をめぐりつねに問われてきた問題点であった。(1)理論学派はM.R.ワイヤーマン，H.シェーニッツ，W.リーガー，E.グーテンベルク，H.アルバハらにその系譜をみるが，彼らに共通の主張は，経営経済学が資本主義的企業の本質とその因果法則の解明に主眼をおき，現実の企業との間に一定の距離を保ちながら，理論科学であることに力点をおいたことである。(2)技術論学派は簿記，会計学にたけた初期の研究者，さらにE.シュマーレンバハ，F.ライトナー，K.メレロビッツ，E.ハイネンらにその流れを求めることができるが，この学派は経営経済学が経営者に企業の健全性，存続のための処方箋を示すことにあるとシュマーレンバハが指摘したように，実践的･応用的側面を強調するものであった。…
