A town in Kushiro County, Hokkaido. Bordering Kushiro City, the town cultivates vegetables and engages in coastal fishing for kelp, salmon, and trout. In 1980, part of the Kushiro Marshland was registered as a Ramsar site. Area: 252.66 km2 . Population: 20,526 (2010).
