Air micrometer

Air micrometer

When the gap between the tip of the nozzle that sprays the air and the measurement surface changes, the air flow rate and pressure also change; this is used to measure dimensions and displacement. It generally consists of a compressed air source, an air filter, a constant pressure device, an indicating device, etc. When measuring dimensions, a comparative measurement is performed in which a standard gauge with precisely known dimensions that is roughly the same as the object to be measured is first measured, and then the object to be measured is measured, and the dimension of the object to be measured is calculated from the difference between the two. Its characteristics are:
(1) Since there are few moving parts, there is no deterioration in the accuracy of the measuring device due to friction or wear.
(2) Since it is a non-contact measurement, the measuring force is small and the non-measurement surface is not damaged.
(3) The measurement magnification is large, ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 times. The main applications include measuring and inspecting dimensions and hole diameters, as well as automatic measurement and automatic sorting on manufacturing assembly lines, and are widely used in mass production manufacturing sites.
