A Japanese folk tale. A boy, learning of his mother's past, who was chased out of her position as a lady for farting, goes to the lord's mansion at the age of 13 to sell the seeds of a golden melon, saying, "It must be sown by someone who doesn't fart," and gets the lord to say, "Is there anyone in the world who doesn't fart?" In the end, his mother returns to her position as a lady and he becomes the heir. It is found mainly on islands such as Okinawa, Amami, Kikaigashima, Iki, and Sado.
