Truce - Armistice

Japanese:
Truce - Armistice
It refers to the cessation of fighting by agreement between the warring parties during war. There are general ceasefires, which halt all military operations across the entire combat zone, and partial ceasefires, which only halt operations in a specific area. It is distinguished from temporary and partial ceasefires. It is usually conducted at a stage when the time for peace is ripe and further fighting is no longer necessary. Armistice agreements are generally concluded under the authority of the local commander, and the duration of the ceasefire is usually set, but the state of war continues. It is becoming more common to end a conflict by an armistice agreement rather than a peace treaty that ends the state of war. There are provisions for this in the Hague Conventions on the Laws of War on Land, but customary law must also be taken into consideration. → Geneva Conventions → Related topics Military demarcation line | Surrender | War | Declaration of an end to the state of war
