Born: 1874. Niigata [Died] January 14, 1958. Christian missionary. He studied at Hokuetsu Gakuin and was baptized by Hori Teiichi at the age of 17. From Tohoku Gakuin, he traveled to the United States in 1894 and entered Moody Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1901 and returned to Japan the following year. In 1908, he was appointed to Kyoto Rakuyo Church. He later founded Gosen Church, Fengtian Church in China, and Shanghai Japanese Church. He became famous as an eloquent and passionate preacher, and in the mid-Taisho period, he preached faith in the second coming and held prophecy study meetings in various places with Uchimura Kanzo and Nakata Shigeharu. In 1911, he was appointed to Osaka Tenma Church. During this time, he was active as a traveling pastor, holding large missionary meetings in various places both at home and abroad, including three round-the-world missions.
