Pawning - Irejichi

Japanese: 入質 - いれじち
Pawning - Irejichi
〘noun〙① A method of establishing a pawn in the Middle Ages. A pawn in which the collateral property is handed over to the creditor. In the case of movable property, it is a reverted pawn, and in the case of real estate, the income from the land becomes the property of the creditor, which is considered interest, so the debtor does not have to pay interest. ⇔Genjichi. ※Newly added - June 1, 1297 (5th year of Einin) "When someone pawns something , they will not be able to do anything , and when they put something into pawn , they can make a contract based on the pawn ." ② To put something into pawn. Also, the item that is pawned. [Additional note] The meaning of ② is given in "Geki - Ten'i-mu Ueno Hatsuhana (Kawachiyama) - Prologue " as "The apprentice Nagamatsu piles up the pawned items to one side and reads out the pawn tickets."
