Japanese: 亀尾 - きび

An industrial city in the center of North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It used to be a rice-growing region on the plains of the middle reaches of the Nakdong River, but at the urging of then-President Park Chung-hee, an industrial complex called the Gumi Export Industries Corporation was built in 1969, spearheading the country's industrialization. Over 140 factories, including those in the electronics and textile industries, have been built on ^{a 10km2} site, and Japanese companies have also made a notable presence. It is also known for its large number of young female workers. Population: 384,000 (2005).

韓国，慶尚北道中央部の工業都市。洛東江中流平野の稲作地帯だったが，当時の朴正煕大統領のお声がかりで，1969年から工業立国の先鞭をきって工業団地〈亀尾輸出産業公団〉が建設された。敷地10km²に電子・繊維工業など140余の工場が建ち，日本企業の進出も目立つ。若年女子労働者の多いことでも知られる。38万4000人（2005）。
