Anausagi (English spelling) rabbit

Anausagi (English spelling) rabbit

A mammalian animal of the order Lagomorpha and family Leporidae. It is found in central and southern Europe and northern Africa. It has been introduced into Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and South America, where it has become feral, causing severe damage to crops. The domestic rabbit, which is widely kept around the world, is a domesticated version of this species. It is 35-45 cm long and weighs 1.3-2.3 kg. It is distinguished from hares by its short forelimbs and the lack of black at the tips of its ears. In preparation for giving birth, female rabbits build a nest of soft grass and fur plucked from their abdomen. After a gestation period of 28-33 days, they give birth to 3-9 naked, eye-closed baby rabbits. However, when the environment deteriorates or the mother is stressed, pregnant females will absorb the developing fetuses in the uterus. This rate has been reported to be at least 60% in the wild, which contributes to population control of this species. Their diet consists of grass and grains, but in order to efficiently absorb nutrients, they have the habit of eating special feces covered in mucus, which they excrete alternately with their regular feces. While hares are completely solitary, European rabbits live in groups. However, these groups are not organized enough to be called flocks, and are merely collections of territories with a radius of a few meters.
