…大衣といわれる僧伽梨からは九条から二十五条袈裟が，鬱多羅から七条袈裟が，安陀会からは五条袈裟（イラスト）が生まれ，さらに小五条，輪袈裟，畳五条(折五条)，絡子，鈴懸（すずかけ）といった変形的な袈裟が生まれた。普通には鬱多羅僧を七条，僧伽梨を九条袈裟と称しているが，平（ひら）袈裟，衲（のう）袈裟，紫甲（しこう）袈裟，遠山（とおやま）袈裟などの種別があり，僧階によりその着用が規制されている。例えば唐代では紫衣（しえ）と称し，紫色の袈裟と法衣は天子下賜のものとして重視された。…
