Art that uses space as a place of expression, such as architecture, sculpture, painting, and crafts. Art in general can be broadly divided into temporal arts and spatial arts, depending on whether its representation takes the form of temporal succession or spatial juxtaposition. The former includes literature, music, and theater, and corresponds to musical (poetic) art, while the latter includes painting, sculpture, architecture, and other forms of plastic art. Spatial consciousness corresponds to vision, touch, and kinesthetic senses, forming visual space, tactile space, and kinetic space, but these spatial consciousnesses do not appear independently in art. The German word for spatial art, Raumkunst, can sometimes refer to the interior decoration of architecture.

空間を表現の場とする芸術。建築，彫刻，絵画，工芸など。芸術一般を，その表象が時間的継起の形式をとるか，空間的並置の形式をとるかによって，時間芸術と空間芸術に大別する。前者は文学，音楽，演劇を含み，ミューズ的 (詩的) 芸術と一致するのに対し，後者は絵画，彫刻，建築などを含み造形芸術と一致する。空間意識は視覚，触覚，運動感覚と対応し，視空間，触空間，運動空間を形成するが，これらの空間意識は，芸術において独立的に現れることはない。空間芸術に相当するドイツ語 Raumkunstは，建築の内部装飾をさす場合がある。
