Columbiformes, family Pigeonidae. Total length 23-28cm. The head is silver-gray, the head, neck and thorax are burgundy brown, and the back and coverts are a beautiful glossy green. The waist, tail and flight feathers are brown, and there are two prominent gray-white horizontal stripes on the waist. The forehead, eyebrows and shoulders are white. The beak and legs are pink. They are widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics from eastern and southern India, Nepal to southern China, southern Japan, Southeast Asia and Australia. They live in a variety of places, from moist forests such as tropical rainforests to farmland, spending most of the day on the ground and feeding mainly on fruits and seeds. In Japan, they are found on Ishigaki Island, Iriomote Island, Hatoma Island, Taketomi Island, Kohama Island and Yonaguni Island in the Yaeyama Islands.

ハト目ハト科。全長 23～28cm。頭上は銀灰色，頭頸部と胸腹部はぶどう色を帯びた褐色，背と雨覆は光沢のある美しい緑色。腰，尾，風切は褐色で，腰にはよく目立つ灰白色の 2本の横帯がある。額から眉斑と肩にある斑は白い。嘴と脚は桃色。インド東部，南部，ネパールから中国南部，日本南部，東南アジア，オーストラリアにかけての熱帯，亜熱帯に広く分布する。熱帯雨林など湿潤な森林から農耕地まで多様な場所にすみ，日中はほとんど地上で過ごし，おもに果実や種子を採食する。日本では八重山諸島の石垣島，西表島，鳩間島，竹富島，小浜島，与那国島に分布している。
