It is also said that Kinsaki (Koganeshi of Shimōsa, founder of Ichigetsū-ji Temple), who succeeded Takafuku's teachings, used the shakuhachi as a religious instrument and became the origin of the komo-sō. There are various theories as to why komo-sō came to be called komusō, including that this is due to the idea that the world is false and has no substance, and that if one does not observe it, one's mind becomes empty, and that another theory is that a person called komusō emerged from the line of Kakushin who established the form by adjusting the clothing and the flute...
