A former town in Abu District, central Yamaguchi Prefecture. It occupies the upper reaches of the Abu River, with the Yamaguchi Line running through the river valley. The town's center is Tokusa, a small mountain basin. The basin is a rice paddy monoculture area, with apples and pears grown in the surrounding areas, and dairy farming is also thriving. There is the Chomon Gorge, and a ski resort in the east. It was incorporated into Yamaguchi City in January 2010. 293.08 km2 . 7,620 people (2005).
