In Kyogen, the partner of the shite. When there are two or more actors, one of the main actors is called the main actor or the first actor, followed by the next actor (the second actor) and the third actor. In the Izumi school, the actors other than the main actor are called the small actors, and depending on the role, they are called the main actor or the female actor. In plays with many actors, the rest of the cast are called the standing actors, and the leader of the cast is called the standing head. In dance-Kyogen, they are called waki, just like in Noh.

狂言で，シテに対する相手役。2人以上登場する場合は，おもな役1人を主 (おも) アドまたは一のアドといい，以下，次 (じ) アド (二のアド) ，三のアドという。和泉流では主アド以外は小アドと呼び，役柄により，主 (しゅう) または女 (おんな) と呼ぶ。大勢物の場合，その他大勢を立衆 (たちしゅう) といい，その先頭を立頭 (たちがしら) という。舞狂言の場合は，能と同じにワキと呼ぶ。
