Cape Gyodo

It is also called Gyoto Misaki. The cape is located about 8 km northwest of Cape Muroto, which is at the southeastern tip of Kochi Prefecture. It belongs to Muroto City and is included in the Muroto-Anan Kaigan Quasi-National Park. Behind it is a coastal terrace with a height of over 100 meters. Gyoto village is located along National Route 55, which runs at the bottom of the terrace cliff, and was once surrounded by high stone windbreak walls. There is a small dug port near the tip of the cape, and early-ripening loquats are cultivated on the terrace slope on the western side.

「ぎょうとうみさき」ともいう。高知県南東端の室戸(むろと)岬の北西約8キロメートルにある岬。室戸市に属し、室戸阿南海岸国定公園に含まれる。背後は比高100メートル以上の海岸段丘をなす。行当集落は段丘崖(がい)下を走る国道55号に沿って立地し、かつては高い防風石垣で囲まれていた。岬端付近には小規模な掘込み港があり、西側の段丘斜面では早生(わせ)ビワの栽培が行われている。
