Criticism of the Kojiki and Nihonshoki

Academic procedure to verify and confirm the historical character of the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki. As far as the extent to which the contents of the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki can be trusted, Yamagata Banto of the Edo period had already stated that "There are many delusional theories about Empress Jingu's subjugation of the Three Kingdoms. From Ojin onwards, it must be considered certain," and "For roughly a thousand years from Jinmu, it was a remnant of the Age of the Gods, and even if it was recorded in the history books, it is a matter of Minakosira." In addition, Fuji(i) Sadamitsu stated that "Emperor Jinmu's last reign was Emperor Chuai. Where did Emperor Ojin come from?", pointing out the break in the imperial line.

《古事記》《日本書紀》の史料的性格を検証･確定する学問手続。記紀の記載内容がどのあたりから信じられるかという点について，すでに江戸時代の山片蟠桃が〈神功皇后ノ三韓退治ハ妄説多シ。応神ヨリハ確実トスベシ〉〈神武ヨリ千年ホドノ間ハ神代ノ名残（なごり）ニテ，史ニハイカニ載タリトモ，ミナコシラヘゴトナリ〉とみた。また藤(井)貞幹は〈神武天皇の御末は仲哀天皇にて尽させ玉ふ。応神天皇は何くより出させ玉ふや〉と皇統の断絶を述べた。
