...Laws often refer to them as textbooks. In the "Temporary Measures Law for the Publication of Textbooks" (promulgated in 1948), which was enacted as part of the educational reforms after World War II, textbooks are defined as books for children and students that are organized according to the curriculum of elementary, middle, and high schools and are used as "main teaching materials" for the students. However, books called textbooks are also used in places of learning other than these schools.
