Quality control. A scientific method of managing product quality, using methods such as control charts, stratification, contrast, and correlation. A small group of employees who carry out QC activities at the on-site level is called a QC circle, which is unique to Japan and has spread rapidly not only to manufacturers but also to the tertiary industry. QC activities that started at the manufacturing site have now become established as a company-wide QC movement that includes non-manufacturing departments such as sales, planning, development, general affairs, and accounting, and are called the TQC movement. In sales, there is "policy management," which sets goals, devises methods to implement them, and puts the plan-do-check method into practice, and circle activities as an improvement movement to eliminate strain, waste, and unevenness in daily sales activities.
