A state founded by Othon de la Roche, a Burgundian feudal nobleman who participated in the Fourth Crusade, centered around Athens and Thebes. 1205-1456. In terms of constitution, it reproduced the French feudal system like the Grand Duchy of Achaea, but was more centralized. Under Othon (reigned 1205-25) and Guy I (reigned 1225-63), followed by John I (reigned 1263-80), William I (reigned 1280-87), and Guy II (reigned 1287-1308), national prestige grew and knight culture flourished peacefully.
