The association that marked the beginning of the Decembrist movement in Russia. It was founded in 1816 by NM Muravyov and others. In 1818 it was reorganized as the "Welfare Union", which further developed into the "Southern Society" and the "Northern Society", and in December 1825 it started the Decembrist revolt.
