…The official history of the Five Dynasties (907-960) of China, consisting of the Later Liang, Later Tang, Later Jin, Later Han, and Later Zhou periods, is divided into two parts, the Old and the New. (1) The Old History of the Five Dynasties is 150 volumes long and was compiled by the Song Dynasty's Xue Juzheng and others under imperial decree. Each dynasty has its own annals and biography, totaling 61 volumes of annals and 77 volumes of biography, plus 12 volumes of journals. It describes the ten southern countries as false and forged biographies.
