A material that absorbs sound well. Its performance is expressed as the sound absorption coefficient (the energy reflected from the energy incident on the material minus the energy that is incident on the material divided by the incident energy, i.e., 1 minus the reflectivity). Sound-absorbing panels such as tex, board, and metal plates (often with many holes), cloth, felt, glass fiber, rock wool, and other porous materials, as well as combinations of both, are used. An essential material for the acoustic design of halls, theaters, and conference rooms. → Related topics Soundproofing structure Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
