Giho Calendar - Gihoreki

Japanese:
Giho Calendar - Gihoreki
[Noun] A type of lunisolar calendar used in ancient times. It is believed that the Rintoku calendar, created by Li Chunfeng and put into effect in the second year of the Rintoku era (665 ) during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, was transmitted to Silla during the Yifeng era ( 676-678 ) and then brought to Japan where it was called by this name. The Nihon Shoki records that it was used together with the Genka calendar in the fourth year of the reign of Empress Jito ( 690 ), but it was not actually used in conjunction with the Genka calendar until the sixth year ( 692 ), and it is said that from the second year of the reign of Emperor Mommu ( 698 ), this calendar was used alone. It was abolished in the seventh year of the Tenpyo Hoji era ( 763 ) and replaced by the Daienreki . ※ Chronicles (720), November 4th year of the reign of Empress Jitō (Kitano Hon Muromachi Period Text) “After receiving an imperial decree, the Genka calendar and the Kiho calendar were first implemented.”
