Flavoblitus - Flavoblitus

Japanese: キチマダニ - きちまだに
Flavoblitus - Flavoblitus

A blood-sucking tick of the genus Ixodes in the order Ixodidae, class Arthropoda, and genus Ixodida. The dorsal plate is yellowish, and the body length of an unfed female is just under 3 mm, but when fully fed, it can reach 8 mm. It is active almost all year round throughout Japan, sucking the blood of all wild mammals on land and many wild birds. It has also been called the dog tick or dog tick. It is most commonly found on hares (rabbits), and transmits tularemia between hares in the Tohoku region, but humans are rarely bitten.
