...During the Ryakuo era (1338-42), Ashikaga Takauji invited Muso Soseki to be the temple's founder, and the temple was founded at its current location at the foot of Kinugasayama Mountain. Takauji's younger brother, Tadayoshi, also built a temple of the same name, Toji-ji (also called Toji-in), at Sanjo-bomon in the capital, so the temple was also called "Kita Toji" during the Muromachi period to distinguish it from the others.
