Besold, C.

The four fundamental documents are the pamphlet "The Universal and General Reformation of the Whole World" published in Kassel in 1614, its appendix "The Legend of the Rosicrucians", "The Creed of the Rosicrucians" published in 1615, and finally the satirical allegorical novel "The Chemical Marriage" published in Strasbourg in 1616. They seem to have been produced around the radical group of scholars in Tübingen centered around the theologian J.V. Andreae. Of these, "The Universal and General Reformation of the Whole World" is a translation of an excerpt from "The Outline of Parnassus" by the Greek scholar and Andreae's teacher Christoph Besold (1577-1638), a satirical novel by the Italian campanist Trajano Boccalini (1556-1613), and "The Chemical Marriage" is considered to be the work of Andreae alone.
[Founding legend and activity philosophy]
According to the legend of the Rosicrucians, the founder, Rosenkreuz, was born in Germany in 1378, studied at a monastery, and then traveled to Eastern countries such as Arabia and Morocco to study alchemy and magic. After returning to Germany, he founded a religious order with seven comrades.
