〘noun〙① A person who writes. A writer. An author. A writer. ※Tokyo Shin-Hanjo-Ki (1874-76), <Hattori Seiichi>, Vol. 2: “Has the knowledge of the commentator already been enlightened? No, the reporter has not yet determined whether the commentator is true or false.”③ In particular, a person who gathers information for newspapers, magazines, broadcast news, etc., writes articles, and edits them. ※Minzoku Zasshi - Vol. 1 (1874) “Company reporters should refer to reports from various places, cross-reference them with Western books, interpret their meanings, and do their best to respond to the purpose of the report.”
