Reflux ratio (English spelling)

Japanese: 還流比 - かんりゅうひ（英語表記）reflux ratio

Reflux refers to the process of condensing the vapor produced during distillation and returning it to the distillation tower. If the reflux amount is L _R , then the ratio of this to the distillate amount D, L _R /D, is the reflux ratio. In simple distillation, the reflux ratio is zero. In multi-stage distillation, the boiling point range (component composition) of the distillate can be changed by changing the reflux ratio. If the reflux ratio is made infinite, the rectification effect will be maximized, but the amount of distillate components will naturally be infinitesimal.

蒸留で一度蒸気になったものを凝縮させて蒸留塔に戻すことを還流という。還流量を L_R とするとき，留出量 D との比 L_R/D が還流比。単蒸留では還流比ゼロ。多段蒸留では還流比を変えることによって留出液の沸点範囲 (成分組成) が変化する。還流比を無限大にすれば，精留効果は最大になるが，留出成分の量は当然無限小になる。
