Będzin (English spelling)
An industrial city in the Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland. It is located about 10 km northeast of Katowice, in the northeastern part of the Upper Silesian industrial region, on the banks of the Czarnaprzemsa River, a tributary of the Wisla River. It is the oldest city in the Silesian coalfields. It was known as a shoe-producing region in the 17th century, and after the construction of coal mines and zinc smelters in the early 19th century, it developed rapidly and became the center of mining and manufacturing in the region. During World War II, the population was halved due to the massacres carried out by German troops. There are a theater, a museum, and the Polish Archaeological Society. Population: 59,210 (2002).

Also called petroleum benzine. When crude oil is distilled, it is the part that is distilled at temperatures between 60 and 120°C. It is a liquid whose main components are paraffinic hydrocarbons and saturated cyclic hydrocarbons. It is used for extracting oils and fats, as a solvent, and as a cleaning detergent. It is highly flammable.

ポーランド南部,シロンスキェ県の工業都市。カトウィツェの北東約 10kmの上シロンスク(シュレジエン)工業地帯の北東部,ウィスワ川支流のチャルナプシェムシャ川沿岸に位置する。シロンスク炭田地帯最古の都市。17世紀に靴の産地として知られ,19世紀初頭,炭鉱と亜鉛製錬所が建設されてから急速に発達し,同地方の鉱工業の中心地となった。第2次世界大戦中,ドイツ軍による大量虐殺で人口が半減した。劇場,博物館,ポーランド考古学協会などがある。人口 5万9210(2002)。

石油ベンジンともいう。原油を分留するとき,60~120℃の温度範囲で留出する部分で,パラフィン系炭化水素や飽和環状炭化水素を主成分とする液体である。油脂の抽出,溶剤,クリーニングの洗剤などに用いられる。引火しやすい。
