…In 1944, the company was liquidated and established as Asano Honsha Co., Ltd. (capital 15 million yen), which was a securities holding company invested by the Asano family. At the time of being designated as a holding company and ordered to be dissolved in 1946 after the Second World War, there were 10 direct affiliated companies of the company with capital of over 1 million yen, of which the four leading companies were Nippon Kokan, Kokura Steel (formerly Asano Heavy Industries), Nippon Cement (formerly Asano Cement), and Kanto Electric Industries. In particular, Nippon Kokan was the second largest company after Nippon Steel, and was well known for its unique management that also operated a shipbuilding business. Nippon Cement, the oldest company in the Asano zaibatsu, still reigned supreme in the industry, and these two companies had a large presence. …
