At the end of the Edo period, the Mino and Hida magistrates had Tsutsumikatayaku (official position) and Yamagata kakariyaku (chief of local forestry officials), while the Tajima, Iwami, and Mutsu magistrates had Unjozo-yaku (storehouse transport officials), Naoriyaku (direct entry officials), Ginzan-tsuke-yaku (chief of silver mine officials), Yoroya-ban (official bartender) and Ginmin-yaku (official bartender), the Kanto magistrates had Sekisho-ban (official bartender), Kosuge-inai-tadai-ban (official bartender), and Uraga-kan-ban (official bartender), and the Otsu magistrates had Otsuzo-ban (official bartender) and Kojo-kan-kai-ge-yaku (official bartender), and most of them had stipends of 30 koku or less. At the Sado magistrate's office, they were divided into regular and ordinary positions according to rank, and in 1624 (Kan'ei 1), there were 302 such positions. …

…In addition, wealthy merchant daikan in the Kinai and neighboring provinces gradually became more like bureaucrats, but in this environment the daikanbugyo took charge of civil affairs, mainly litigation of public affairs (lottery) and tax determination. The shogunate daikan administered the shogunate territories under the titles of Kamigata daikan and Kanto daikan, but when the Kanjogashira system was established in 1642 (Kan'ei 19), they were unified under Kanjogashira.
