Sean O'Faolain (1900-91) attracted attention with his short story collection Midsummer Night's Madness (1932), which was based on events during a turbulent time. His novels The Nest of Simple People (1933), Stray Birds (1936), and Return to Erin (1940) depict people who rebel against the oppression of those around them, becoming disillusioned and isolated. ...
