Dry transition series - Dry transition series

...the phenomenon in which the composition of a biological community changes in one direction in a certain place. The final stage of succession is climax, when the succession stops and the biological community becomes stable. Usually, it means a change in vegetation, but it can also include changes in animal communities and ecosystems. It means a change over a period of several thousand years, such as when abandoned farmland changes from grassland to forest. It is also called ecological succession to distinguish it from geological succession, which is a change in vegetation over geological time due to climate change and plant evolution.
