Gold-platinum alloy

...A term used to classify metals, as opposed to base metals. Usually refers to gold (Au), silver (Ag), and the platinum group elements ruthenium (Ru), rhodium (Rh), palladium (Pd), osmium (Os), iridium (Ir), and platinum (Pt). Chemically, they occur as simple elements, have a low tendency to ionize, do not react directly with acids, and are not easily oxidized in air. …金属を分類するときの用語の一つで，卑金属に対する語。通常は，金Au，銀Ag，および白金族元素のルテニウムRu，ロジウムRh，パラジウムPd，オスミウムOs，イリジウムIr，白金Ptをいう。化学的には，単体として産し，イオン化傾向が小さく，酸類などとは直接反応しにくく，空気中では酸化されにくい，ということで，上記の金属以外に銅Cuおよび水銀Hgをも含めていうのが普通である。【中原 勝儼】
