Korean School

In addition to the schools in Japan, which were established within the bases to reflect the presence of the U.S. military, Korean schools (141 schools from elementary school to university) and Korean schools (4 schools) were established to reflect the independence and division of Korea. All of these foreign schools, except for the base schools, are legally qualified as miscellaneous schools.

...This was the revival of assimilation education, and the trend changed so that the majority of Korean children in Japan were enrolled in Japanese schools. The conclusion of the peace treaty marked a turning point, and ethnic schools were rebuilt from the mid-1950s onwards, but reflecting the division of the homeland, they were divided into Korean schools (ranging from elementary school to Korea University, with 141 schools and just under 20,000 students as of 1996) and Korean schools (4 schools and approximately 2,000 students). Influenced by this division and the changing of generations to third and fourth generation Koreans born in Japan, the remaining majority (90,000) went to Japanese schools...
