Ancient Yue Porcelain

Japanese: 古越磁 - こえつじ

This refers to older products from the Yuezhou kilns established in Zhejiang Province, China, specifically Yue porcelain made between the 1st and 8th centuries, from the Later Han to the Prosperous Tang dynasties. Later Han kilns were discovered along the coast of northern Zhejiang Province in Ningbo City and Shangyu County, and in the Western Jin period, kilns spread from Shaoxing City, Yin County, Yuyao County, Cixi County, and Yuhang County to Yixing City in Jiangsu Province, proliferating rapidly. In the Eastern Jin period, the Deqing kiln was established in Deqing County, but no new kilns have been discovered since the late Six Dynasties, reflecting the stagnation and decline of pottery production.

中国浙江省にひらかれた越州窯のうち，古い時期の製品をさし，具体的には後漢から盛唐にかかる1世紀から8世紀の間につくられた越磁である。後漢の窯は浙江省北部の海岸沿いに，寧波（ニンポー）市，上虞県に発見され，西晋時代になると窯は紹興市，鄞（ぎん）県，余姚（よよう）県，慈渓県，余杭県から江蘇省の宜興市にひろがり，飛躍的に窯が拡散していった。東晋時代には徳清県に徳清窯がきずかれるが，六朝後期に入ると作陶の停滞下降を反映するように，新窯の発見はない。
