Huán rén (English spelling)

Japanese: 桓仁 - かんじん（英語表記）Huán rén

Currently, this area is in the area of Hunjin County, Liaoning Province, China, and is located on the Hun River, which flows into the right bank of the middle reaches of the Yalu River. According to the "Samguk Sagi," the founder of Goguryeo, Jumong, reached the Sobeoncheon River in 37 B.C. and tried to establish a capital, but did not have time to build a palace. He connected a palace to the Bokryu River, named the country Goguryeo, and "built a palace wall" four years later. The Gwanggaeto Stele also refers to the Bokryu Valley Hulbon in relation to this. Scholars have long identified the Bokryu River with the Hun River, and the Sobeon or Hulbon castle with Wunseong, and it has been assumed that the area around Hwanin was the location of the royal capital of the early Goguryeo period.

現在は中国の遼寧省桓仁県の一帯，鴨緑江中流右岸域に注ぐ渾（こん）江の河辺にあたる地域。《三国史記》によると，高句麗の始祖朱蒙は，前37年に卒本川に至り都を定めようとしたが，宮室を作るひまなく，廬を沸流水上に結んで，国号を高句麗とし，4年後に〈城郭宮室を営作する〉とされている。また，広開土王碑文には，それに関連して，沸流谷忽本とみえる。先学によって，早くから，沸流水は渾江に，そして卒本あるいは忽本の城は五女山城にそれぞれ比定され，桓仁付近が高句麗前期の王都の所在地として推定されてきた。
